Meet Coach Andrew Kiehl
Hi, I’m Andrew Kiehl, but the kids call me "Coach" or "Coach Andrew." I’ve been passionate about helping young athletes learn and grow through sports. I got into coaching when Travis asked me to help out, and I’ve been hooked ever since. While my main experience has been in coaching football and basketball with the YMCA, I’m excited to bring those skills and apply them to coaching baseball and softball here with the DC Outlaws.

Coaching Philosophy and Style
My coaching philosophy is centered around guiding rather than yelling. I believe that kids learn best when they are shown what to do instead of just being told what went wrong. I make it a point to explain what they messed up and show them how to fix it. My goal is to create a positive environment where players feel comfortable learning and growing. One of the biggest lessons I hope to teach your kids is the importance of sportsmanship. At the end of the day, it's not just about winning; it’s about learning how to be a good teammate and respecting everyone on the field.

Memorable Moments and Achievements
What I love most about coaching is watching the kids have fun and improve their skills. Seeing them smile, grow, and develop both on and off the field makes everything worthwhile. My main goal for this season is to continue improving and help the team bring home more medals. I want to make sure that every player feels like they are progressing and contributing to the team’s success.

Community and Engagement
I believe community support is incredibly important for youth sports. When kids feel positive reinforcement from the community, it boosts their confidence and helps them perform better. That’s why I try to engage with parents and the local community to ensure everyone feels connected and supportive of our team.

Fun and Personal Touch
Outside of coaching, I work at Walmart, and in my free time, I enjoy staying active and involved in my community. A fun fact about me is that I’ve always enjoyed sports, even though baseball wasn’t my main game growing up—I’ve really embraced the challenge and joy of coaching it now.

Vision and Future
In the future, I see the DC Outlaws continuing to grow, with more players joining and our organization expanding. My long-term goal is to help keep this momentum going and ensure the kids are always learning and having fun. If I had one piece of advice for young athletes, it would be: Come to practice, work hard, and trust your coaches. The more you put in, the more you’ll get out of the game.
