Meet Coach Eric Guererro
Hi, I’m Eric Guerrero, but the kids call me Coach Eric. My journey into coaching started when my daughters began playing T-ball and then softball. Over the years, I found myself stepping in more and more, helping out when needed and gradually becoming part of the team. I’m passionate about being involved in their sports and helping all the players build their skills.
Coaching Philosophy and Style
My coaching philosophy centers on focusing on each child’s strengths and encouraging them to participate fully. I believe in lifting kids up, especially when they don’t believe in themselves. My goal is to help each player realize their potential, and I work hard to help them gain confidence. One lesson I always emphasize is that attention and focus are key. You can have all the determination in the world, but without focus, it’s tough to improve. I want these kids to understand that with attention to their game, they can continue to grow.
Memorable Moments and Achievements
The thing I love most about coaching is watching kids succeed. Whether it’s learning a new skill, winning a game, or just seeing them become more confident, those moments are priceless. It’s what keeps me motivated as a coach and makes every practice and game worth it.
Personal Insights
What I love most about coaching is passing on what I’ve learned. I can’t keep all this knowledge to myself—it’s my responsibility to share it with your kids and the community. My biggest influence was my father, Frank Asebedo. He taught me almost everything I know, and his approach to life and sports has shaped how I coach today. My goal for this season is to bring in new players and build a full, competitive squad. I’m excited to see how much they’ll grow!
Advice for Young Athletes
One piece of advice I’d give to young athletes is this: you control your outcomes by controlling your dedication. The more you focus and commit to learning, the better you’ll become. Dedication to the game and to improving your skills is what will set you apart.
